Scrapbooking Albums

Scrapbooking Guide No Comments »

Scrapbooking is all about compiling fond memories in a tangible format. A scrapbooking album can put a nice finishing touch on the work you have created. There are many albums available to achieve this goal, for example you can get a mini album depending on what you want to achieve.

The goal of the album is to formally organize your creations. You can use the alphabet for example starting with A all the way to Z. Each letter can then represent a specific theme in your scrapbook.

So it has two objectives, one to organize and secondly to represent a theme. Under B you could put best day of my life. Along with the letter you can use a visual representation as in color and contrast.

To have even more fun you can vary the lettering, make it a little crazy if you want so as to emphasize the theme even further. You want to make the contents of your album pop out and grab attention.

You can use scrapbooking albums for any occasion, from the birth of a newborn to Christmas memories, sharing the fun times you had during the festive season. You can use these albums to share memories amongst friends and family or you can create one as a gift.

It is also important to keep your album simple and not to make it too complicated. The key is to have fun and get creative - after all it is an adventure of past events organized in a way that tells the story over time. By the way it does not have to be perfect, what’s more important is the story and how you relate to it.

The album will do the job of finishing it off in style.

Scrapbooking Layouts

When it comes to scrapbooking, materials are abundant; materials in essence will be the least of your worries. Sure you may have to consider the cost, but its more about being organized and getting your scrapbook layout down that will help you to get going with your scrapbooking adventure.

You may have lots of wonderful ideas and designs on hand, so the main challenge you may have right now, is how best to present them. This can become a frustrating task, but if frustration continues you will not be able to get your head around it.

So take a little timeout and relax, it’s just a simple process of organization and you can dummy things up to get an idea of how best to organize your creations before you put them on your real scrapbook. More importantly the whole adventure should be fun not something that becomes a chore.

When it comes to layout it will boil down to a few key points, one being the sequence of events and how you want to sequentially organize them. If you are trying to present your child growing up for example, you may want to start with the baby picture and then present other pictures in order as your child is growing up. This by the way is just an example.

In terms of the pictures themselves you can use the good old computer to help you organize them and visualize their layouts. You can also look at other layouts to see what would work best for your ideas.

There are lots of sites online that provide samples which will help you to generate ideas for your scrapbook layout.

The key as I always say is to enjoy it, make it into an adventure by which you enjoy the journey. Talk to others who scrapbook also and see where they got their ideas.

Scrapbooking Ideas

When it comes to scrapbooking many people have trouble getting started because they just can’t seem to come up with ideas. They get what writers call, “writers block” they lose their creative juices.

We all at one time or another face this challenge, the main thing at this point is to get back to basics. Keep it simple, do not overwhelm yourself trying to think of everything or have your mind go in circles trying to think what you should be doing.

The first place to start is with your scrapbook paper, you do not need to go crazy here, just pick up some inexpensive colored paper which you can find in any box store. Once you have got yourself some paper then it is time to think about what tools you will need.

To cut the paper you will obviously need a good scissors. To add to your paper you are going to need some trimmings, embellishments, accessories etc. A lot of this can be found lying around your own home, so you do not need to spend a lot of money buying accessories.

You can use different pieces of paper to frame your pictures and you can also use that paper to cut out shapes and sizes. Then add some markers and stickers to further enhance your scrapbook.

The main thing you want to do is get organized as this will help free up your mind so that it can be creative, if you are worrying about what you should have, it will be hard to come up with ideas relative to the theme of your scrapbook.

What’s also important is to enjoy the process, if you trying to get it perfect the first time then this will cause you to get stressed out. You want to experiment - and as you do you will be surprised to find that ideas start popping into your head.

Start with a happy smiley picture and add more smiles to it, as in a happy sun face and when doing this you may catch yourself giggling a little which will help you to relax and enjoy it. When your mind is relaxed it will be far more productive.

Scrapbook Paper

Scrapbooking Guide No Comments »

The notion behind scrapbooking is pretty straight forward, the goal is simple, preserve memories and share them with others in your own way and style. It can be a fun way to spend your time while taking a sentimental walk down memory lane.

Scrapbooking can also reflect your own take on events which took place during those times. You do not need expensive materials to create your own scrapbook, there are lots of choices and a vast product range which cover multiple price points.

Secondly you don’t need lots of material. The most important first step you will take is in choosing the paper. Choosing the right paper can get your creative juices flowing but as mentioned there are lots of choices and therefore it can be a little overwhelming.

Many suggest that you use paper that is acid free. The simple reason for this relates to preservation. The last thing you want is to have the very memories which you sought out to preserve deteriorate over time due to choosing the wrong paper.

Choosing the right paper is also important so as to match the theme which you intend to convey. If in the event the memories are distant and evolve to the present day, then you may want to use older styles of paper to start with and then decorate with more modern trimmings.

You can also mix and match papers, this may prove difficult at the beginning because it can be hard to know if they will match and it is not until you try it that you will see. The point is to have fun and play around with it to see what works best.

In conclusion, before you invest in any paper consider what it is you wish to convey and then match the paper that best suits the mood and as mentioned, enjoy and have fun.
